Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a South Island organisation where sustainability and conservation sit at the heart of what they do, and where technology and change are there to support a bigger mission. They are at an exciting point in their journey, accelerating a modernisation agenda and looking for a hands‑on, all‑round Senior Project Manager who can embed themselves in the business and deliver technology‑enabled change. This is not a role for someone who wants to sit at arm’s length and manage from a spreadsheet. You will be visible, close to the operational reality, and trusted to drive work from idea through to adoption. You will join a small, high‑performing team in a practical environment where people pitch in, decisions move quickly, and outcomes matter. The remit is broad and varied across a pipeline that includes large system implementations, cyber uplifts, AI enablement, system upgrades and reviews. We are looking for someone experienced who cares about making sure change actually sticks. Because the team is lean, you will also lead the front end of work when required. That includes shaping scope, clarifying objectives, facilitating workshops, mapping processes, pressure‑testing requirements, and setting initiatives up for success before delivery ramps up. From there, you will own the full lifecycle, including planning, resourcing, budget oversight, risk and issue management, vendor coordination, running project governance and change activities, and ensuring outcomes land, are adopted, and deliver value. Ideally you will have the judgement to take the best from agile and waterfall playbooks and know when to use what to deliver outcomes on time and to budget. You will also people‑manage another Project Manager and a Business Analyst who may be working on your project or on other change priorities. Location: This role is in Queenstown only. Being present and connected to stakeholders is key to success here, so there is an expectation of being on‑site or in‑office a minimum of three days per week. About The Opportunity A broad portfolio of technology‑enabled change across systems, cyber, AI enablement, upgrades and reviews End‑to‑end ownership from early discovery through to delivery, adoption and benefits realisation What You’ll Bring Proven end‑to‑end delivery across complex initiatives, including technology projects, implementations, migrations, upgrades, and business change. Strong project shaping and discovery capability, turning broad objectives into clear scope, outcomes, deliverables and measurable success criteria Confidence facilitating workshops, steering groups and senior stakeholder discussions, driving decisions, alignment and accountability The ability to take people on a journey, with a strong change and adoption mindset, including partnering with L and D and training to build capability and embed new ways of working Strong vendor and partner management experience, including selection support, SOW oversight, coordination and performance management Comfortable operating in a lean environment where you will roll up your sleeves, fill gaps, and keep momentum without losing the bigger picture Calm judgement under pressure, able to manage ambiguity, competing priorities and fast‑moving delivery environments Project frameworks and certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum etc.) are helpful, as is comfort with delivery tools (for example MS Project, Jira, DevOps) and process mapping tools (for example Visio). But your ability to lead people, build trust, and deliver practical outcomes will matter most. What’s On Offer A role with real breadth and impact across evaluation and selection through to implementation, training, adoption and business change Autonomy and trust to deliver visible, practical wins quickly Competitive remuneration, great benefits, and the chance to do meaningful work in a purpose‑driven organisation To apply for this vacancy, you MUST be a New Zealand citizen, resident, or have already secured the right to work in New Zealand and therefore hold a valid visa. #J-18808-Ljbffr
