Compliance Officer - Manukau

Overview You will be the frontline in protecting our environment and community. This field‑based role provides a multi‑disciplinary compliance response service covering investigations, resolutions of breaches, remediation activities and enforcement action in relation to the Resource Management Act, Building Act, and relevant Bylaws. Your skills in assessing situations and advising customers to help them to achieve compliance are key to creating positive outcomes for Auckland. This role may involve working after hours from time to time. Position Details This is a permanent full‑time position, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with on‑call work as required. The area is South Auckland and the office is in Manukau. Responsibilities Conduct field‑based compliance response, including investigations, resolutions of breaches, remediation activities and enforcement action in relation to the Resource Management Act, Building Act, and relevant Bylaws. Assess situations and advise customers to achieve compliance. May work after hours from time to time. Qualifications Solid background in regulatory compliance, law enforcement, investigations, or a related field. Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—capable of translating legislative requirements to customers and the community. Problem‑solving skills with negotiation, conflict resolution, and building strong relationships. Experience in risk assessment and de‑escalation strategies, especially in public interaction environments. Preferred: tertiary qualification in Compliance, Risk Management, Law, or Resource Management. At least two years of experience in regulatory or government settings. Proficient using Microsoft Office tools and other digital systems. Current New Zealand driver’s licence.
