Job Description
Job Opportunity Clinical Specialist Anaesthetist – Permanent, Full‑time or part‑time. Work with a collaborative team of anaesthetic specialists, fellows and registrars in Women’s Health Anaesthesia at Auckland City Hospital and Greenlane Clinical Centre, part of Te Toka Tumai Auckland. Responsibilities Maintain high standards of practice and patient care, including appropriate pre‑operative and post‑operative management. Ensure the implementation of clear policies for communication and responsibility for patient care with junior staff. Maintain accurate records. Participate in teaching at both specialist training courses and ad‑hoc education of Resident Medical Officers, medical students, technicians, nurses, midwives and other staff. Keep up to date with current trends and developments in anaesthesia and in the utilisation of technology. Regular review of clinical performance as part of maintenance of professional standards. Be encouraged to carry out or assist with appropriate research to improve knowledge or standards of patient care. Take part in elective and emergency work across the Women’s Health Department of Anaesthesia, acute pain rounds, high risk clinics and on‑call services. Qualifications & Requirements Registered or eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Clinical experience in Women’s Health Anaesthesia, including labour epidurals, caesarean sections, maternal‑fetal medicine and gynaecological oncology. Experience with acute pain service, antenatal pain and persistent pelvic pain. Experience working with a multidisciplinary team including cardiac, neurosurgery and interventional radiology.
