About the University The University of Otago – Faculty of Medicine – Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Role Overview Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor (per qualifications) – part‑time (0.5 FTE) – permanent – starting November 2026 – based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin. Responsibilities Provide high‑quality, research‑informed teaching and assessment across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Contribute to curriculum development, convene teaching sessions, and mentor research students. Establish and develop an active research programme, publish in peer‑reviewed journals, secure external funding, and build national and international collaborations. Qualifications Professional health practitioner qualification and registration in New Zealand. Higher research degree (PhD or equivalent) preferred. Understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to the University's Māori Strategic Framework. Collegial and collaborative approach to teaching, research, and service. Experience teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels. Specialist teaching in pregnancy, gynaecology, and women's health. Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and postgraduate supervision, or potential to develop these areas. Track record of, or strong potential for, internationally peer‑reviewed research. Success in, or potential to obtain, competitive research funding and develop collaborative research programmes.
