In Waikato Rural North we work with tamariki and whānau to create positive change in our community. The role places you on the frontline of child protection work. It is demanding but hugely rewarding. We work in partnership with Waikato‑Tainui, Mokopuna Ora and other community providers to keep children safe within their families, hapū and iwi. What You Will Bring A Social Work qualification with full registration and a current Annual Practising Certificate from the NewZealand Social Worker Registration Board A passion for working with children and youth, building positive relationships to support outcomes A strong and genuine commitment to strength‑based practice Preference and understanding of TeAoMāori and indigenous models of practice Excellent written and oral communication skills (including professional feedback to the courts) Demonstrated resilience, problem‑solving techniques and flexibility Understanding of the Oranga Tamariki Act, 1989 and related NewZealand legislation on child safety Strong PC and Microsoft Office Suite skills with excellent report‑writing abilities Authentic commitment to working alongside whānau Appreciation of cross‑cultural practices, knowledge of tikangaMāori and Pacific peoples’ cultures Proven expertise in child protection practice Full, clean, current driver’s licence Capacity to work as a team member in stressful situations with resilience What's In It For You Oranga Tamariki offers an impartial remuneration package that progresses annually with experience and tenure.
