Benefits Interesting medicine working with an experienced and supportive team Salary between $320,000 - $370,000 6 weeks annual leave Up to $10,000 relocation contribution Ability to lead a passionate and supportive team Based in beautiful Whakatane The Doctors Kopeopeo are seeking a dedicated GP clinical lead to front our team of passionate health providers within this highly challenging practice of 4,500 patients. Being semi rural and having a culturally diverse population including 52% Maori and 75% high needs this working environment is hugely rewarding for the right person and our patients are wonderfully appreciative for any help you can give them. The dedicated team includes 2 nurse prescribers who run chronic disease clinics and work in parallel with the clinic GPs and liaise directly with diabetes, renal and respiratory hospital clinics. We have a specialist Ear nurse running ear clinics who is fully competent in ear assessments, medication treatment options and sends referrals to ENT clinic when appropriate. We have an Extended Care paramedic who runs daily acute walk in clinics with support from our triaging nurses. We have a dedicated Virtual team who run daily GP clinics supported by a highly experienced health care assistant. This remote team also takes the stress off the in‑house GPs by filtering their results and discharge inboxes, updating classifications and medications as required. We also have a health improvement counsellor on site who runs a free service to support and improve our patients mental health and well being. This role would suit someone who likes the challenge of seeing patients with multiple co‑morbidities, is skilled at managing people, has a good sense of humour, is self‑assured, conscientious and comfortable managing risk. Our practice in Whakatane is set within beautiful surroundings near NZs most popular Ohope surf beach. Its surrounded by stunning coastal hiking and bike tracks, conducive to all outdoor sports including fishing, jet skiing, paddle‑boarding and kayaking. This practice has supported this community for the past 40 years. We are looking for a person who is interested in becoming part of this community and who is not daunted by complex high needs medicine. About the position and you You will bring to the role: Sound clinical and service skills enabling you to fully utilise your experience. Great communication skills. Ability to provide healthcare to a full range of people in our community. Hold Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Be legally eligible to work in New Zealand. This is a permanent position with negotiable hours, preferably 8-10 sessions per week.
