What You’ll Do As a Graduate Civil Coastal Engineer based in Stantec’s Wellington office, you will join a friendly and collaborative team and contribute by supporting the planning, analysis, and design of coastal, marine, and water-related infrastructure. The role contributes to resilient and sustainable outcomes for coastal communities and infrastructure, working under the guidance of senior and principal engineers as part of multidisciplinary teams. Day‑to‑Day Tasks Support analysis and design of coastal and marine infrastructure, including outfalls, seawalls, revetments, beaches, and shoreline protection works. Assist with derivation of coastal design conditions (waves, water levels, currents, storm surge). Support coastal hazard, vulnerability, and climate change impact assessments including sea level rise and erosion. Contribute to resilient and climate‑adapted design solutions considering lifecycle performance and future uncertainty. Assist with technical reports, drawings, specifications, and consenting documentation. Participate in site visits, inspections, and field investigations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams across water, environmental, planning, and geotechnical disciplines. Your Role Work across the entire project lifecycle, from concept to design and construction monitoring (onsite). Gain exposure to project management and client management. Join a large, nurturing, and diverse team that works on local, national and international projects. Collaborate with and learn from national and international industry experts. What You Bring Recent graduate with a Masters of Civil Engineering or Engineering Studies or similar. Motivated, pragmatic, and eager to learn across various disciplines. Strong interest in coastal water engineering. Demonstrated personal leadership qualities and thrive in challenging environments. Eligibility Be a recent graduate or be due to finish studies by December 2026. Preferably have a full clean current driving licence.
