Job Description

Senior Statistical & Data Technician Roles available: Senior Statistical & Data Technician (1 permanent, 1 fixed‑term until December2026) and Statistical & Data Technician (1 permanent, part‑time 20h/week). Based in Wellington (Pōneke) or Christchurch (Ōtautahi). The Statistical and Data Technician transforms data into a more usable, value‑added state for the statistical production process. Tasks include loading data, editing, sourcing, classifying, validating, checking, shaping, and confronting data to bring it closer to informing decisions in Aotearoa. Responsibilities Load, edit, source, classify, validate and check data. Shape and confront data to prepare it for statistical production. Ensure data is ready for the next step in the decision‑making process. Qualifications & Experience Curiosity and passion for troubleshooting, process improvements, and innovation. Experience with financial account data or an accounts area; technical checking skills desirable. High organisational skills, ability to follow processes, carry out repetitive tasks with detail and problem‑solve issues as they arise. Proven ability to work to tight deadlines, good time‑management skills, and adaptability to new information. Experience operating data‑processing systems and ability to learn new software or technologies quickly. Strong teamwork, effective relationship building and communication skills. Confident in presenting work in plain English. Commitment to continuous learning and applying cultural capability. Recognised that transferable skills are valued – experience from a range of industries, including unpaid work, is welcome.
