Job Description
Practice Lead Testing Help shape digital services that support New Zealand learners. Work across varied projects in a supportive Information Services team and grow testing capability while making a meaningful public sector contribution. We are looking for a Practice Lead Testing to join NZQA's Information Services team within the Strategic and Corporate division. This is a fixed term role through to 29 January 2027, providing leadership and direction for the testing practice while supporting the delivery of quality digital and information services across NZQA. Mō te tūranga | About the role As Practice Lead Testing, you will lead NZQA's testing practice, lift quality assurance capability, and ensure testing is embedded across projects, products and BAU services. You will provide people leadership, strengthen tools and ways of working, and partner with teams, leaders and suppliers to manage risk and deliver reliable digital services. In this role, you'll: Lead NZQA's testing function and end‑to‑end testing delivery. Set and embed quality assurance strategies, frameworks, tools and processes. Lead, coach and develop testing people and capability. Drive modern testing practices, including automation and continuous integration. Manage quality, risk, defects and reporting across delivery lifecycles. Work with teams, leaders and external partners to support reliable digital services. Support critical release and examination periods, including on‑call responsibilities when required. What you'll bring to the role Experience leading software testing and quality assurance functions, including coaching and developing high‑performing teams. Strong technical testing capability across frameworks, automation, DevOps, cloud platforms and contemporary tools. Clear judgement to balance quality, risk and delivery, and provide practical advice. A collaborative, influential style across technical, business, project and BAU environments.
