Job Description

The International Student Support Officer is a permanent, full-time position based in Hawke's Bay and plays a key role in delivering quality, timely and effective pastoral care and guidance to international students at EIT. The role sits within the International Centre team and supports the wider activities of the team who are dedicated to optimizing the international student experience. The appointing salary for this role will be between $61,122 and $68,182 , dependent on skills and experience. The International Student Support Officer reports to the International Business Operations Manager and will be responsible for: Deliver effective, timely guidance and pastoral care for EIT enrolled international students in accordance with EIT policies, procedures and external regulations. Provide and coordinate support and advocacy for international students to improve their academic and experiential outcomes. Develop and deliver international orientation activities and student engagement programmes. Undertake community engagement, networking activities and student events that support international students' integration into the community. Maintain accurate records, reporting and compliance with the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021. To be successful in this role you will have: Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, with strong active listening and empathy when dealing with students from diverse backgrounds. Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information. Experience working with international students or multicultural communities. Experience working in an education environment (tertiary, secondary or pathway institution). Understanding of the needs and challenges faced by international students, together with a relevant tertiary qualification.
