Sandvik Mining | Technical Specialist Waihi, New Zealand | Permanent - Full time About The Opportunity As a Technical Specialist you will play a key role in ensuring Sandvik equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. Acting as the primary link between Sandvik and our customers, you will deliver high-quality technical support and outstanding service. In this role, you will work closely with the customer’s Maintenance Management team to optimise equipment performance through scheduled inspections, preventative maintenance, and hands‑on repairs. You will support a range of hydraulic, electrical, and automation systems across Sandvik equipment, including underground and surface drill rigs, loaders, trucks, and related machinery. You will also partner with Sandvik’s regional technical support teams to diagnose and resolve technical issues, while contributing to continuous product improvement. From time to time, additional tasks may be required to support strong customer outcomes and ensure consistent equipment performance. Roster : 4 days on, 3 days off. We also welcome applications from candidates currently based in Australia who are interested in relocating to Waihi. Responsibilities Build strong, effective relationships with customers through consistent, high-quality service delivery Partner with site stakeholders to support continuous improvement in maintenance practices and equipment utilisation Carry out fault finding and diagnostics to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently Contribute to product improvement initiatives by sharing field insights and technical feedback Maintain accurate service records and documentation in line with company standards Support safe work practices and ensure compliance with all site and company safety requirements Take ownership of work quality and outcomes to drive reliability and customer confidence About You Must have Trade qualification in Heavy Duty Mechanical or Auto Electrical Proven experience maintaining and fault finding on heavy equipment Strong capability across hydraulic and electrical systems Experience servicing and repairing mining equipment (e.g. drill rigs, trucks, loaders) (Sandvik Equipment) Demonstrated ability to diagnose issues and deliver practical, effective solutions Committed to delivering high-quality work aligned to OEM standards Strong focus on safety, with consistent adherence to EHS requirements Reliable and self‑motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team Desirable Familiarity with maintenance systems and service reporting processes Experience contributing to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships on site Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced field service environment Exposure to warranty processes and OEM service expectations To be eligible for this role You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand.
