Stantec’s Buildings team in New Zealand delivers end-to-end projects for our clients, from feasibility and design through to construction, commissioning, and operation. Specialising in mission‑critical facilities such as data centres and healthcare, our team brings expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, fire, civil, electrical, data, and sustainability engineering. Role Summary As the design manager you will lead both in‑house and external technical teams to deliver the most appropriate solutions for our clients. You will work closely with clients, group leaders, internal project managers, subconsultants, and technical directors across New Zealand and Australia for efficient, high‑quality delivery of all technical outputs. Day‑to‑Day Tasks Connect regularly with clients to understand and meet their needs, providing advice at the right time. Deliver outputs on time, within budget, and exceeding client requirements. Implement sound methodology for technical delivery; lead planning and production of all deliverables. Plan, program, and coordinate technical resource needs. Track and report progress, communicate quality reviews, schedules, status, and modifications with group leaders. Ensure quality assurance, fee budgets, and schedule. Deliver projects to required quality standards using remote teams. Identify and resolve issues on projects proactively. Build constructive relationships with contractors, clients, and consultants. Contribute to proposal and bid development, preparing proposal material. About You 15 years’ experience in an engineering delivery environment. Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, internal and external, in a professional services or construction project delivery environment. Proven project background in data centres or other complex vertical build projects. Tertiary qualification in engineering or construction. Chartered Engineer or similar industry recognition.
