About the Role We have an exciting opportunity as a Health Promotion Advisor| Kaitohu Whakatairanga Hauora based in Taranaki. This role is based within the Community and Whānau Wellbeing team which aims to enhance the health and wellbeing of the whole community through creating supportive environments to make healthy choices more available to whānau. You'll be dedicated to seeing communities thrive and will partner with them to deliver initiatives that realise Pae Ora. In this role, you will: Foster community partnerships to design, deliver, and evaluate collaborative health promotion initiatives Develop effective relationships and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to address the social determinants of health Work closely with local government, iwi and hapū, and our priority communities to bring about positive change on a wide range of health kaupapa Focus on achieving equity for Māori and priority groups including Pacific, Rainbow Community, and Tangata Whaikaha About the Service The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, is dedicated to achieving Pae Ora - healthy futures for all. By addressing the wider determinants of health that shape people’s lives, with a strong focus on wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level interventions. Our approach is collaborative and connected across boundaries, ensuring public health services are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored to meet the unique needs of Taranaki communities. About you You are someone with excellent relationship management, influencing and facilitation skills. You can work in an evidence-based way, integrating health promotion frameworks, Mātauranga Māori, health data and community insights to inform priorities and programme development. You have excellent communication skills and are able to adapt information and complex ideas to a wide range of audiences. With a focus on achieving equity, you will work closely with local government, iwi and hapū, partner organisations and priority communities to support positive change on a wide range of issues including immunisation, screening, smokefree/vape free, food environments, physical activity, reducing alcohol harm and mental wellbeing. You have a willingness to build constructive and effective relationships with stakeholders, understanding their needs and environment. Previous experience in health promotion, community development or a related role Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively alongside communities and wider stakeholders Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate programs and projects Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action Clean NZ Driver's License Willing to travel across the region Desired - A tertiary qualification in public health, health promotion, social science, community development or a related field Whilst Health New Zealand is undergoing change affected employees will be given preference and priority for this position. #J-18808-Ljbffr
