Job Description
Senior DevOps Engineer (Technology Specialist L2) – Cloud Operations (Preferably Wellington based) The Cloud Operations function is part of Technology Services, ensuring integration across Inland Revenue’s service components, system, cloud services and data centres. We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to enable customers and staff to use Cloud Operations services effectively, designing, building, deploying and operating these services safely and securely. Responsibilities Maintain a technical architectural overview of service technical components across infrastructure tiers, service integration patterns, the various infrastructure tiers and the policies that govern integration. Ensure that technical documentation for design, architecture and future roadmaps is kept current. Collaborate with service partners to optimise performance and deliver operational effectiveness and efficiencies. Develop and strengthen partner and vendor relationships, address complex technical issues and make quality decisions in a fast‑paced environment. Provide technical project governance for infrastructure projects, producing and presenting plans to the customer. Qualifications Proven experience with multi‑cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure and Oracle, especially cloud networking and integration patterns. Experience managing the deployment and support of SaaS applications from an integration and identity management perspective. Mastery of DevOps practices, including product‑management models and the use of AI for infrastructure automation and DevOps. Extensive experience in IT infrastructure and operations, focusing on cloud technologies. Track record in vendor management, cloud governance, automation and cost optimisation (FinOps). Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and source‑code management tools such as Terraform and GitHub. Experience providing technical leadership and advice, collaborating with other Technology Specialists to ensure integration integrity between services. Ability to assess and review detailed technical integration designs to support project objectives. Experience performing root‑cause analysis of high‑severity incidents and problems, leading and advising technical teams and collaborating with Major Incident and Problem Management teams to meet SLAs. At least 3+ years in a similar position. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer technology or engineering with excellent coding skills.
