Operator - Ecogas Reporoa


Are you confident operating heavy machinery and looking for a hands-on role in a growing renewable energy business?

Ecogas is looking for an Operator to join our Reporoa site. Our facility processes food waste into renewable gas and fertiliser, supporting a more sustainable future for New Zealand.This is a practical, safety-focused role where you'll help manage feedstock deliveries, operate mobile plant and equipment, and support the smooth day-to-day running of the site.


The Role

Reporting to the Site Supervisor, you will help keep the Reporoa facility running safely, efficiently and compliantly. You'll be involved in receiving and handling feedstock, operating plant and machinery, completing checks and records, and helping maintain high standards across the site.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating loaders, mobile plant and site equipment safely
  • Managing feedstock deliveries and unloading trucks
  • Checking the quality of incoming material and reporting any issues
  • Completing daily, weekly and monthly checks and records
  • Following health, safety, environmental and compliance procedures
  • Working with staff, contractors, customers and visitors on site

About You

You'll be practical, reliable and safety minded, with experience operating heavy machinery or working in a similar operational environment. You'll be comfortable working around moving equipment, following processes, and keeping accurate records.

You'll also be a good communicator who can work well with others, take ownership of your work, and help keep the site safe and running smoothly.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience operating loaders or other heavy machinery
  • A current Class 1 driver licence
  • Wheels, Tracks and Rollers endorsements
  • A strong focus on health and safety
  • Good communication skills
  • A process-focused and reliable approach
  • Basic computer skills
  • Mechanical aptitude would be an advantage
  • The ability to work as part of a roster
  • Physical fitness, including the ability to lift 20kg unassisted

Experience in waste, processing, agriculture, transport, civil construction or another industrial environment would be useful, but above all we're looking for someone with the right attitude, a strong safety focus and a willingness to learn.
