\n Senior Solicitor – Corporate and Registries\n

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Solicitor to join our Corporate and Registries team. The team provides legal advice to all MBIE operations, including across MBIE’s 17 different regulatory systems, and on governance, integrity and conduct matters that impact the organisation.

Responsibilities\n

Due to the team’s flexibility, you may work on different regulatory systems depending on your experience and interest, providing a broad range of legal advice. Your role will include:

    \n
  • Delivering high‑quality and timely legal advice on matters such as climate change, sustainability, building, employment, health & safety, occupational regulation, and space matters.
  • \n
  • Advising clients on implementing upcoming legislative reform.
  • \n
  • Collaborating with other in‑house counsel and external stakeholders to address complex legal issues.
  • \n
  • Working autonomously in a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • \n
  • Sharing knowledge with colleagues to support the team’s high‑performance goals.
  • \n
Skills and Experience Required\n
    \n
  • Tertiary qualification in law and a practising certificate.
  • \n
  • Over 5 years of professional legal experience (PQE).
  • \n
  • Experience in public law and an understanding of the mechanisms of government.
  • \n
  • Strong legal technical and analytical skills.
  • \n
  • Well‑developed written and verbal communication abilities, suitable for varied audiences.
  • \n
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver successful outcomes in demanding environments.
  • \n
  • Strong relationship‑management skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • \n
  • Enthusiasm, drive, and a proactive nature.
  • \n
  • Experience working within at least one of MBIE’s 17 regulatory systems.
  • \n
  • Experience on governance, integrity, and conduct matters or regulatory compliance and enforcement.
