Senior Project Manager - Te Waipounamu - Health Technology Management Based in Te Waipounamu | South Island Region Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders. About the Role The Senior Project Manager delivers clinical equipment capital projects approved under the capital plan. The role, which reports to the Regional Delivery Manager for Health Technology Deployment and Delivery, focuses on driving timely, effective delivery across initiatives of varying scale and complexity. Key responsibilities include: Manage multiple capital projects, from single equipment items to fleet initiatives Deliver projects of differing value and complexity, some spanning multiple financial years Coordinate with Infrastructure, Digital Services, and other asset portfolios as required Engage with senior Health NZ clinical, operational, and regional stakeholders Provide updates and reports to Health Technology Management and Regional Capital Committees as needed About the Team/Service The Procurement, Supply Chain and Health Technology (PSC&HTM) team at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora are a national function with a vast and complex scope. They play a critical role in ensuring the availability, safety, and efficiency of clinical and non-clinical goods and services across the health system. Responsible for managing and influencing over$9 billion in annual spend, the team are central to delivering high-quality patient outcomes and standardising product usage across regions. About you You are an experienced project manager with a strong background in delivering projects within healthcare, health technology, infrastructure, or the public sector. A confident and effective communicator, you are able to engage and influence senior clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders, particularly in high‑pressure and sensitive environments. You will bring: Minimum experience of 8 years in a leadership role in large complex organisations Post graduate qualification/certification in a relevant field e.g. Prince2/PMP and/or equivalent level of practical clinical, clinical engineering, business, technology, procurement or complex end‑to‑end project delivery experience Proven ability to deliver highly complex, end‑to‑end (turnkey) projects in high‑pressure and sensitive environments Strong leadership, planning, and problem‑solving capability, including people management and resource prioritisation Demonstrated experience in senior stakeholder engagement, investment paper development, governance reporting, and use of Microsoft and project management tools Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
