Full and part-time opportunities available Flexible availability required for rostered shifts: mornings, evenings, overnight sleepovers, and weekends Compensation: $24.68 - $30.13 per hour, depending on qualifications Due to the needs and privacy of the person we support, this role requires a male support worker About the role We're looking for strong, resilient Support Workers who have the heart and strength to step up and support people with complex behavioural needs. You'll help the people we support to manage emotions, stay safe, and grow. This role isn't just a job—it's about standing beside someone when things get tough and helping them find their way forward. We'll provide full training and a supportive team. Your Responsibilities Include Building independence: help people grow their daily living skills, from catching public transport to cooking their own meals Supporting daily life: assist with personal care routines such as showering, getting dressed, taking medication, and looking after their own home Pursuing goals and interests: encourage and support people to engage in their interests, hobbies, and personal goals Staying healthy and well: support healthy choices and overall wellbeing in a way that works for each person Supporting complex behaviours: provide calm, consistent support using positive behaviour strategies while ensuring dignity, safety, and respect Creating connections: support and strengthen relationships with whānau and the wider community What you will bring Someone with life experience who knows how to stand strong and stay calm Resilience and confidence to work with challenging behaviours Physically fit and confident in high-pressure situations Ability to work in an environment with diverse individuals, open-minded and non-judgemental Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily Strong written and verbal communication skills A full NZ driver’s licence What’s in it for you Pay: $24.68 - $30.13 per hour, with the potential to earn more as you gain qualifications IDEA Services will support you towards completion of Level 2, 3, and 4 Certificates in Health and Wellbeing Generous long service leave entitlements plus insurance benefits after 2 years of service ‘Refer a friend’ bonus programme Free Employee Assistance programme service for health and wellbeing support About us IDEA Services supports adults with intellectual disabilities to live in their own homes and enjoy life as part of their communities.
