Mechanic

Job Summary We are looking for a qualified Mechanic to join our team at Christchurch Airport. The role is full‑time (40 hours per week, 4 shifts of 10 hours: Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and permanent. Responsibilities Service vehicles according to manufacturer specifications and company standards, including minor repairs and preventative maintenance checks (e.g. replacing fluids, changing oil/air filter, tires, brakes, fitting ski racks). Work on cars, trucks and the company fleet. Monitor inventory and request new parts from the Service Administrator. Assemble mechanical components to specifications. Perform diagnostic tests to determine functional problems. Assist colleagues as required. Complete Repair Orders and provide breakdown assistance when necessary. Prepare vehicles for hand‑back and sales. Test and service workshop equipment for safety. Maintain accurate job records and record servicing history in applicable systems. Work safely, complying with Occupational Safety, Health & Environmental policies and emergency evacuation procedures, and report all accidents, near‑accidents and hazards. Qualifications Full driver’s licence (including manual vehicles). Trade qualification in Motor Mechanics (Level4 minimum). Previous experience as a motor mechanic, preferably in the car‑rental industry. Experience working with both petrol and diesel engines. Customer‑focused, collaborative and adaptable approach to work. Ability to manage multiple tasks across multiple sites with high attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of MSOffice (Word, Excel, Outlook). Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety legislation relevant to the role. Position requires full‑time availability (40hours per week); not accepting Student Visa or WHV holders, and no sponsorship offered.
