Senior Medical Officer, Plastic Reconstructive & Hand Surgery - National Burn Centre Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon Sub‑specialty Interest: Congenital, Peripheral Nerve, General Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau is seeking Expressions of Interest from exceptional Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons with advanced fellowship training and a sub‑specialty interest in Congenital Surgery, Peripheral Nerve Surgery, General Hand Surgery, and Reconstructive Microsurgery . We have permanent Consultant positions commencing in 2028 within the Auckland Regional Plastic and Hand Reconstruction Centre , one of Australasia's largest and most respected Plastic Surgery services. Working alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to manage a diverse and complex caseload while contributing to the continued development of specialist services across the Auckland region. This role is ideally suited to surgeons who are collaborative, academically motivated, and committed to delivering equitable, patient‑centred care in a culturally diverse community. About the Role Your primary clinical base will be at Counties Manukau , with opportunities to work across other regional hospitals as required. The position includes participation in the regional on‑call roster, providing comprehensive Plastic Surgery services, including acute hand trauma. About You To be considered, you will have: A qualification in Plastic Surgery equivalent to Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) Plastic Surgery Eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a Specialist Plastic Surgeon Advanced fellowship training in one or more of the advertised sub‑specialty areas At least one recognised international fellowship A strong commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork, teaching, and high‑quality patient care Preference will be given to New Zealand‑trained Plastic Surgery Fellows.
