Allied Health Assistant – Waiatarau Inpatient Unit – Te Whatu Ora Waitemata Permanent, Part‑time position (0.9 FTE), Rostered Shift. Based in Waitakere Hospital. About Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders. About the unit Waiatarau is a Mental Health Inpatient Unit located on the grounds of Waitakere Hospital. The unit comprises 8 intensive care beds and 24 open ward beds. Mental Health Inpatient Units are essential national resources, but all efforts are made to ensure clients from the West Auckland area that need our services are accommodated at Waiatarau. About the role You will work in an interdisciplinary team, supporting Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology and Nursing. You will implement prescribed rehabilitation programmes within an inpatient unit setting under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist Lead. The programmes will be group focused and may include exercises or activities to improve functional performance, independence and communication. About you We are seeking a dedicated, honest and reliable individual who has previous experience in a mental health environment and works well as part of a team. Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, strong time‑management, be proactive and able to work independently, and have reliable transport to the workplace.
