About the role We are seeking skilled and enthusiastic Electorate Trainers across NewPlymouth and Taranaki. The roles will be dispersed throughout the electorate, with the option to work remotely or from one of our Electorate Headquarters. Trainers must be available outside of regular business hours, including weekends, and may be required to travel. A driver’s licence and reliable transportation are required. Full training will be provided. The primary responsibility is delivering prescribed training to Voting Place Kaimahi to ensure they understand and excel in their roles. Trainers will collaborate with managers to plan, execute, and evaluate training programs, prepare training areas, and provide constructive feedback. These are casual positions with an hourly rate of $34.56 (including 8% holiday pay). The role will begin with training in mid‑September. About you You should be an experienced trainer or facilitator with excellent planning, communication, and people skills. Ability to work in complex, dynamic environments and with diverse participants is essential. What you’ll be doing Collaborate with the Recruitment and Rostering Manager and Electorate Manager to facilitate training for Voting Place Kaimahi. Prepare and set up training areas following the Electorate Manager’s guidelines. Attend training sessions to familiarize yourself with materials and delivery requirements. Complete required training and eLearning modules. Conduct evaluations of participants and provide constructive feedback to the Recruitment and Rostering Manager. Deliver nationally prescribed training to voting place staff within the allocated time. What you’ll need to succeed Ability to present using various formats, particularly PowerPoint. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in te reo Māori. Experience delivering training with nationally prescribed strategies and materials. Proven ability to train a diverse and culturally inclusive audience. Strong interpersonal skills for building effective relationships. Integrity, trustworthiness, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information. Action‑oriented mindset with a drive for results and initiative to achieve goals.
