Medical Laboratory Scientist, Histology Department

Medical Laboratory Scientist – Fixed Term (12 months) Role : Full‑time medical laboratory scientist covering a 12‑month fixed term parental leave at Middlemore Hospital, Histology Department. Key Responsibilities Work in all areas of the histology laboratory alongside technicians, scientists, technical specialists, registrars and consultant pathologists to deliver a high‑quality histology service. Collaborate with the team, participate in teaching, maintain laboratory quality standards, and support laboratory information system operations. Key Requirements Current registration and Annual Practising Certificate (APC) as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the Medical Sciences Council of NewZealand. Previous histology laboratory experience preferred. Sound understanding of ISO15189 standards and quality improvement processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Positive attitude and genuine passion for the histology discipline. Experience with laboratory information systems, preferably Delphic, DelphicAP and Cerebro. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a busy team. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and adapt quickly. Remuneration and Working Hours Salary determined in accordance with the PSA Allied Health MECA guideline. Full‑time, Monday–Friday.
