Job Description

Role Overview Based at Tauranga Hospital. Full time equivalent of one FTE (80 hours per fortnight). Fixed‑term contract until July 2027 with Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, which is grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Responsibilities Coordinate patient registrations and manage follow‑up and communication. Arrange appointments and maintain accurate patient records throughout the Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) symptomatic pathway. Support patients throughout their journey and provide professional and culturally responsive communication via phone, email and text. Work closely with clinicians and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive timely, high‑quality care and improve health outcomes for the Bay of Plenty population. Qualifications At least three years of experience in a healthcare administration role. Experience working with patient management and clinical information systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with patients, whānau and healthcare professionals. Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and meet deadlines. High level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing patient information and data. Confidence communicating with patients by phone, email and text in a professional, compassionate and culturally responsive manner. Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a supportive team. Sound computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and processes quickly. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and delivering high‑quality administrative support.
