Job Description
Overview An opportunity for a Senior Advisor to work across the Ministry’s priority workstreams at the intersection of governance, entity performance and Treaty issues. This role is suited for individuals with high level problem‑solving, numeracy and pattern recognition skills. Whether you bring experience in government appointments, performance monitoring and nominations processes, or are a high‑performing individual with analytical skills and a passion for the kaupapa, we would love to hear from you. Full‑time, permanent position based in Te Tari Matua/National Office in Pōneke, Wellington. Responsibilities Work in close partnership with Portfolio Leads to support with and lead, when needed, workstream deliverables. Play a key role in the Ministry’s secretariat service functions. Support kaimahi with best‑practice governance activity and engagement. Support the team with monitoring, contract management and reporting/accountability associated with Māori Wardens as well as other entities. About you We are looking for a candidate who possesses: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong problem‑solving, pattern recognition, numeracy and analytical skills, including the ability to identify issues, assess options and provide practical advice. The ability to learn fast, maintain focus and adapt to rapidly changing circumstances. Detail‑oriented, with sound judgment and discretion. An understanding of the machinery of government, public sector or other complex organisational environments and governance processes. Awareness of the relevance of the Treaty of Waitangi and Te Tiriti o Waitangi to the work undertaken. A high level of personal integrity and courage. Proven ability to work with senior leaders from your own and other organisations. We recognise that strong candidates may bring different combinations of skills, knowledge and experience.
