Job Description
About the Role As the Improvement Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement, performance excellence, and innovation across the National Public Health Service (NPHS). You will lead the design and delivery of strategic solutions that enhance intelligence products, services, and customer experience. Partner with a wide range of stakeholders to translate complex challenges into practical outcomes, lead improvement initiatives (including the development of a shared data platform as a service), and help shape the future direction of intelligence capability while contributing to equitable health outcomes for all New Zealanders. Responsibilities Lead intelligence improvement initiatives that deliver meaningful impact. Drive innovation across data, technology, and business solutions within public health. Champion equity and performance excellence in public health services. Design and deliver strategic solutions that enhance intelligence products, services, and customer experience. Partner with stakeholders to translate complex challenges into practical, sustainable outcomes. Lead improvement initiatives, including the development of a shared data platform as a service. Shape the future direction of intelligence capability and contribute to equitable health outcomes. Provide direction and strategic insight for cross‑functional delivery teams to enable analysts and business users to improve health outcomes. Qualifications Proven experience leading, developing, and delivering complex improvement programmes, projects, or transformation initiatives in large organisations. Strong ability to engage, influence, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes. Demonstrated experience identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement, and successfully implementing sustainable solutions. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and competing priorities. Understanding of, and commitment to, TeTiriti o Waitangi, PaeOra, health equity, and working in partnership with Māori and Pacific communities.
