General Farm Assistant

Miller StockFood Ltd is a successful, family-oriented agricultural business operating in South Otago. We have a diverse range of operations—including cropping, grazing, and animal feed production. Every day is different as there is a lot of variety in this role from tractor operation, fencing, spraying, harvest, trucks driving, forklift operation, machine maintenance and repairs amongst other general farm duties. We have a new opportunity for an additional full time permanent position on our arable farm 15min south of Balclutha. Balclutha is 1 hour south of Dunedin and 1hr 30min north of Invercargill on SH1. Local primary schools include Warepa and Waiwera South primary as well as South Otago High School located in Balclutha. We have 369ha across two blocks of mainly arable with wintering 1800 lambs. The successful applicant will work within a family run operation along side another full time employee who lives on farm as well as drive in part time and seasonal employees. Personal attributes: Reliable and hardworking and have a great work ethic. Must be physically fit. Ability to work well in a team environment and on your own. Keen learner and wants to upskill. Work outside in all weather conditions as well in in shed. Be self-motivated. Experience in operating tractors (cultivation, drilling and spraying) an advantage. Dedicated to working safely and following safety procedures. Hold a minimum of a full Class 1 licence (and willing to gain a higher class licence). Full training will be provided for this role. However skills in the arable sector such as machine operations and repairs and maintenance would be an advantage. Combine driving and harvest experience is a key area we are looking for. There is a 4 bedroom home available with this position or could be a drive in position as well as competitive remuneration package to suit the right applicant.
