About the role | Mo te mahi We are looking for an experienced Senior People and Capability Advisor to partner with our leaders and provide trusted, high-quality people advice. Working closely with People Leaders across the organisation, you will provide expert coaching and guidance across the full HR lifecycle – from performance and development through to employment relations, organisational change, workforce planning and talent. Alongside this, you will lead regular and cyclical people reporting through our HRIS, analyse workforce data and translate insights into clear advice that shapes P&C strategies, informs decision‑making and drives continuous improvement – including through the responsible use of digital and AI‑enabled tools. You will also play a key role in delivering our People Strategy, contributing to policies, projects and initiatives that lift leader capability, strengthen the employee experience and ensure our people practices remain aligned with best practice and legislation, while mentoring others in the team and lifting overall capability. Key responsibilities include: Partner with People Leaders across assigned business groups, providing trusted advice and coaching across the full employee lifecycle. Coach leaders through employment relations matters – including performance, conflict resolution, investigations and disciplinary processes – ensuring advice is fair, pragmatic and legally sound. Support organisational change initiatives through consultation, transition and implementation activities, keeping advice people‑centred and practical. Contribute to the design, delivery and continuous improvement of people policies, projects and initiatives that embed the People Strategy across the organisation. Deliver regular people reporting through the HRIS, analyse workforce data and translate insights into clear recommendations that inform strategy and decision‑making. Mentor and develop other members of the People and Capability team, sharing expertise and lifting overall team capability. Skills & Experience | Nga pukenga me nga wheako A minimum of five years' experience as a human resources practitioner, with a track record of coaching and advising senior leaders and managers on complex people matters. Deep expertise across employment relations, with the ability to balance legal requirements and best practice to reach pragmatic, well‑judged outcomes. Sound knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation, HR best practice, and the disciplines of workforce planning, talent, learning and development, and organisational change. Strong data literacy, with the ability to analyse workforce information, apply critical thinking and translate insights into clear recommendations that inform decision‑making. The judgement, discretion and interpersonal skills needed to handle sensitive and confidential matters, build credibility with leaders at all levels, and coach and mentor others. A relevant tertiary qualification (HR desirable but not essential), or significant equivalent HR experience; experience applying digital and AI‑enabled tools to improve HR practice, and public sector or similarly regulated experience, are highly desirable.
