Job Description
Overview Neutron Software Manager at Rocket Lab is responsible for leading the development and deployment of flight software that brings the new Neutron reusable rocket to life throughout its operational life cycle. Key Responsibilities Develop and deploy the flight software that powers Neutron from Flight1 through subsequent updates, maintaining software resilience and reliability. Work closely with GNC, Hardware‑In‑The‑Loop, and ground software teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance across all systems. Lead a high‑performance culture built around ownership, empowerment, and accountability. Guide the team through challenging milestones, balancing priorities, resources, and risks while fostering innovation and career growth. Qualifications Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field. 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering. 2+ years of direct people‑leadership experience, including mentorship and career development. 2+ years of project‑leadership experience in schedule‑sensitive programs. Experience with software deployment, continuous integration tooling, data processing, and data engineering. Proficient in Git, issue trackers, and C++. Nice to Have Experience with highly reliable software systems and requirements‑driven design. Solid understanding of GNC principles. Familiarity with Machine Learning and/or Bazel.
