Job Description
Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an exceptional Team Leader, Admission & Enrolment to lead our Admission & Enrolment team. This role plays a key part in ensuring excellent service delivery, continuous process improvement, and systems optimisation, helping to provide students with an outstanding admissions and enrolment experience. This permanent, newly established leadership role will support the Manager, Admission & Enrolment, taking responsibility for the day‑to‑day management of the Admission & Enrolment team and functions while creating capacity for the Manager to focus on strategic initiatives, projects, and future service improvements. Reporting to the Manager, Admission & Enrolment, you will lead a team of Admission & Enrolment Advisers, providing leadership, coaching and operational oversight. Working closely with the Senior Admission & Enrolment Advisers and key stakeholders across the University, you will ensure the delivery of excellent service, a seamless admissions and enrolment experience for students, and effective support for complex or escalated cases to enable successful application progression and conversion. The role is primarily in‑person, based at the Kelburn campus, with flexibility to work from home one day per week. Key responsibilities Leading, coaching and developing a team of Admission and Enrolment Advisers. Managing workflow planning, performance, and service delivery outcomes. Overseeing day‑to‑day admissions and enrolment operations, ensuring efficient workflows, accurate processing, and a positive student experience. Managing complex student cases and escalations, providing expert advice and support to help students successfully progress through the admissions and enrolment journey. Supporting data governance and reporting. Contributing to projects, system enhancements and business continuity processes. You are a collaborative and proactive leader who can bring out the best in your team while maintaining a strong focus on operational excellence and the student experience. Qualifications Leadership experience with proven ability to coach, motivate and develop staff. Experience managing team workloads and priorities in a busy operational environment. Strong judgement and decision‑making skills, with the ability to effectively manage escalated cases, recommend appropriate resolutions, and elevate sensitive or high‑risk matters when required. High levels of accuracy, attention to detail, and appreciation for data integrity. Outstanding customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, navigate challenging conversations, and achieve positive outcomes for students and stakeholders alike.
