As our Wellbeing Specialist & Clinical Advisor, you’ll enjoy the best of both worlds in this unique dual‑role – combining meaningful client work with the opportunity to influence clinical excellence across our growing wellbeing service. You’ll maintain an active counselling caseload, providing confidential, evidence‑based support to employees and their immediate family members through our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). Every day, you’ll help people navigate personal, workplace, relationship and mental health challenges, empowering them to build resilience, improve wellbeing, and achieve positive outcomes through early intervention and tailored therapeutic support. Beyond your client work, you’ll play an integral role in supporting our Clinical Lead to strengthen the quality, capability, and consistency of clinical practice across Southern Cross Wellness Partners. Acting as a trusted clinical advisor and second point of contact, you’ll contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, case consultation, and professional development while helping ensure our services continue to reflect best practice. You’ll also support the development of training programmes, mentor and guide fellow clinicians, contribute to workforce capability and resilience initiatives, and help foster a connected, collaborative, and high‑performing clinical community. This is an opportunity to make an impact well beyond individual client sessions. You’ll partner with organisations to promote workplace wellbeing through consultation, workshops, education sessions, and critical incident response, while championing clinical excellence, continuous learning, cultural safety, and ethical practice. This is a full‑time, permanent role based in Auckland or Christchurch. Other locations will be considered but are not preferred. Qualifications A tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Psychotherapy, or a related mental health discipline. Current professional registration and an Annual Practising Certificate (where applicable). At least five years’ experience in counselling or a related mental health setting, with the confidence to support clients with a broad range of presentations. Demonstrated expertise in conducting comprehensive risk assessments and managing complex client situations with sound clinical judgement. Strong understanding of evidence‑based therapeutic approaches, ethical practice, and person‑centred care. Experience providing clinical consultation, mentoring, or professional support to fellow clinicians is highly regarded. The ability to design and facilitate workshops, wellbeing programmes, or training sessions is advantageous. Experience within Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP), workplace wellbeing, or occupational mental health environments will be highly valued. Exposure to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, or service development activities is desirable.
