Job Description

Overview Registered Nurse at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Hospital. Multiple permanent and part‑time positions available. This role offers the opportunity to develop surgical nursing expertise while delivering high‑quality care to patients undergoing general and vascular procedures at Health New Zealand–Te WhatuOra, grounded in TeTiritioWaitangi principles for a system serving all NewZealanders. Responsibilities Provide safe, evidence‑based and compassionate nursing care to patients recovering from a variety of surgical interventions. Complete comprehensive assessments, develop and implement care plans, monitor patient progress, and support patients and their whānau to understand treatment and recovery pathways. Perform postoperative monitoring, wound and drain care, and pain management, including using PCA and epidural analgesia where certified. Educate patients and coordinate with the wider clinical team to deliver smooth and effective peri‑operative care. Contribute to a team environment that values collaboration, excellent communication, and culturally responsive care. Qualifications Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a valid Annual Practising Certificate. Strong clinical assessment and teamwork skills. Excellent time‑management and the ability to prioritise in a high‑acuity environment. PCA/epidural certification (or willingness to achieve this). Commitment to TeTiritioWaitangi and equitable health outcomes. Desired Surgical nursing experience. A current PDRP portfolio. Working at Health New Zealand.
