About the role We have an opportunity based at our Taumarunui site to hire a permanent Supervisor. We are working with tamariki and whānau to make positive changes in our community. The role requires leading, supporting and supervising a team of social workers, building and maintaining positive relationships with iwi and other organisations, and ensuring professional practice aligns with Oranga Tamariki’s framework, principles and standards. Key responsibilities include identifying professional development needs, managing workflow, and partnering with regional supervisors and the wider leadership team. Competitive salary: $111,020 to $133,696, depending on experience. Key Requirements A full, clean, valid driver’s licence Full registration with the New Zealand Social Work Registration Board (SWRB) A social worker qualification recognised by the SWRB Previous people‑management or mentoring experience Ability to build and lead an effective team and act as a team player Proactive approach that places tamariki’s needs at the centre of decisions and actions Excellent time‑management skills and ability to manage competing demands Knowledge of the principles and purposes of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 Understanding of cross‑cultural practices, including tikanga Māori and Pacific peoples’ culture About us Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children is committed to putting tamariki and rangatahi at the heart of what we do.
