Job Description

It supports purchasing activities that keep the National Grid operational and support maintenance and grid projects. Responsibilities As a Purchasing Coordinator you will: Create and manage purchase orders in Maximo and FMIS. Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders. Support purchasing for maintenance and project delivery across the National Grid. Manage long‑lead items such as transformers, substation equipment, protection and communications materials, transmission line materials and cabling. Ensure purchase orders move through the approval process and provide timely updates on project materials. Support item coding and master data maintenance. Contribute to continuous improvement across the Inventory and Purchasing function. Qualifications At least 3 years of purchasing or relevant industry experience. Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to follow through. Proficiency with purchasing and finance systems, including reporting tools. Strong data analysis and Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with Maximo is an advantage. Excellent communication, customer service, and stakeholder management skills. Experience working with suppliers, logistics, freight forwarders or inventory functions.
