We offer a range of placements across our organisation for tertiary students who are currently studying or have recently graduated. As part of the programme, you’ll take part in a tailored onboarding experience, including a comprehensive welcome and induction. You’ll connect with and learn alongside a cohort of fellow summer students, building networks, confidence, and capability while contributing to work that makes a difference for our region and environment. Kōrero mō te Tūranga | About the Role This role will give you experience and a chance to work closely with our nationally recognised multi‑disciplinary contaminated land and waste team. The summer project will be assisting the team with a remedial project for a contaminated site, including groundwater monitoring and data collation/interpretation. It will also involve the maintenance of the Listed Land Use Register, a key resource of contaminated land information for the region, including report auditing and site categorisation. Assist with a round of groundwater monitoring at a contaminated site. Collate the data into a monitoring report and compare with historical data. Assist with maintenance of the Listed Land Use Register, including adding new contaminated land investigations, sites and activities. Learn how to audit contaminated land reports and assist the team with auditing and categorisation of potentially contaminated sites. This role is predominantly office based with opportunities for fieldwork. Mōu | About You You’ll be currently studying or have recently graduated from a tertiary qualification (degree or diploma) in environmental science or related area along with an interest and enthusiasm for contaminated land information management and fieldwork. You’ll be able to work as part of a team and be comfortable working outdoors as you collect groundwater samples for testing.
