About the Organisation Health NZ Counties Manukau operates within the New Zealand Public Health Sector (Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora) and works to achieve equity in health indicators for Māori, Pacific and other communities with health disparities. About the Role Registered Midwife, 0.8 FTE, senior clinical leadership on Maternity Ward 21 (Middlemore Hospital). This role oversees day‑to‑day clinical management and ensures high‑quality midwifery care while promoting evidence‑based best practices. Key Responsibilities Provide expert clinical leadership, ensuring safe and effective maternity care in alignment with NZ midwifery professional and Ministry of Health standards. Collaborate with women, Lead Maternity Carers and the multidisciplinary team to develop, implement and review personalised care plans. Support emergency midwifery care and facilitate transfers to other maternity services when required. Drive quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with health safety and accreditation standards. Guide and mentor colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Manage workforce and resource allocation to meet clinical needs of women. Attend high‑risk clinical incidents, providing expert advice and ensuring best outcomes for women and babies. Essential Requirements Current NZ Midwifery Registration. 5+ years recent midwifery experience, including secondary and tertiary birthing unit experience. Proven clinical leadership or management experience in a maternity setting. Demonstrated understanding of the NZ Maternity Model of Care and Section 88. Why Join Us?
