NZ Rentals is seeking a proactive and experienced Mechanic Team Leader to join our Christchurch branch. In this frontline leadership role, you’ll inspire your team to exceed customer expectations and achieve quality, productivity, and strategic targets. What You’ll Do Lead and motivate a team of mechanics and technicians Oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality vehicle repairs Make key decisions on repairs and replacements based on inspections Maintain compliance with legal and company standards Support recruitment, performance management, and staff development Champion health and safety, coaching your team in safe work practices Use digital tools (e.g., Microsoft Asset Manager) to track workflows and allocate resources Foster a positive, collaborative team environment What You’ll Bring Trade qualification in Light or Heavy Automotive Engineering (NZ Level 4 or equivalent) A full New Zealand drivers licence 5–7 years’ automotive industry experience (preferred) Previous experience as a team leader or supervisor in a busy workshop Strong knowledge of automotive mechanics and diagnostic systems Experience with workshop scheduling tools (e.g., EAM) Proven ability to train, mentor, and develop staff Commitment to workplace health and safety Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and organizational skills Why Join Us?
