Job Description
Wellington based | Permanent | Full-time4.8 weeks annual leave | Wellness allowance after 12 months.
\nMake a national impact through strategic clinical leadership and evidence-informed policy. Midpoint of $167,029, dependent on experience.
\nManage a team of clinical experts and work closely with the Group Manager and Clinical Chiefs to support clinical advice on national health policy, regulation and monitoring matters.
\nJoin Strategy and Policy | Te Pou Rautaki as Manager Clinical Advisory, where you will lead a team of clinical and technical experts, shape evidence-informed policy, and help ensure clinical quality and patient safety are embedded in decisions that impact the health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders. This is a unique opportunity to influence the health sector at a national level working across the Ministry and wider health sector.
What you’ll do\n- \n
- Lead and develop a high-performing Clinical Advisory team, providing strategic direction, people leadership, and ensuring the team has the capability and capacity to deliver on priorities. \n
- Shape and deliver the team’s work programme, aligning clinical advice, policy input, and programme delivery with Ministry, Government, and health sector priorities. \n
- Champion clinical quality, patient safety, and evidence-based practice, integrating clinical advice into policy and programme development. \n
- Drive high-quality outcomes and effective delivery, leading complex programmes of work, managing risks, and ensuring advice and outputs are delivered to a consistently high standard. \n
- Build influential partnerships and foster an inclusive culture, collaborating across the Ministry, health sector, government, and stakeholders while embedding Ministry values and TeTiritioWaitangi responsibilities in all aspects of the team’s work. \n

- Advanced clinical, health, science, or research expertise and a strong understanding of New Zealand’s health system. \n
- Leadership experience building and developing high-performing multidisciplinary teams. \n
- Expertise in clinical governance, evidence-based practice, and integrating clinical advice into policy and programme development. \n
- Outstanding communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills across diverse stakeholders. \n
