Corporate Solicitor (L1) - Roia Rangatōpū

Permanent, full‑time position. Wellington preferred but Christchurch based considered.
The opportunity – Ara Whiwhi Mahi\nAre you a solicitor with 2‑6 years’ experience looking for interesting and challenging work? We need an intermediate solicitor to join our Corporate Legal team to work predominantly in our information law practice.
\nAs a Solicitor in the Corporate Legal group you will be part of a specialist legal team within InlandRevenue that advises on corporate law including employment, commercial, property and public law issues. (We do not deal with any tax‑technical matters.)
About you\n- \n
- Experience in advising on matters relating to the Official Information and Privacy Acts \n
- A genuine interest in learning to write interagency information sharing agreements \n
- Strong experience in statutory interpretation and legal drafting \n
- Proven ability to assess legal risks and provide practical and legally sound solutions and advice \n
- Willingness to engage in advising on a broad range of legal matters across Corporate Legal’s practice areas \n
- Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted partnerships and work collaboratively with internal clients and external legal counsel while delivering professional and responsive legal services \n
- Hold a current NewZealand practising certificate and a commitment to maintaining professional standards, ethical conduct, and ongoing legal professional development \n
We provide advice and support on any general legal matter involving or affecting InlandRevenue as an organisation, employer or government department. Tax‑technical work is done by a different legal team.
\nWe deal with many types of legal matters including administrative law, civil litigation, commercial and contractual matters, employment, human rights, information law (Privacy/OIA), media law, property, statutory confidentiality obligations and general legislation.
\nWe are responsible for:

- The management and delivery of legal services to IR, whether internally or externally provided \n
- Deciding when and for what purpose external legal advisers should be instructed on behalf of IR \n
- Instructing, managing and exercising oversight of external legal advisers \n
