Job Description
Permanent position based in Wellington CBD.
\nSalary: $118,390 - $143,639 plus Kiwisaver + wellness benefits.
\nWe are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Solicitor to join our Corporate and Registries team. The team provides legal advice to all MBIE operations, including MBIE's 17 regulatory systems and on governance, integrity and conduct matters. Due to flexibility within the team, lawyers can work across different regulatory systems depending on their experience and interest, offering opportunities to develop a broad range of subject expertise.
\nIn this role you will provide legal advice on a broad range of matters, including climate change, sustainability, the future of work, legislative reform in building, employment, and health & safety, occupational regulation functions, space matters, and government collaboration on issues such as Space Weather. You will work with other in-house counsel to deliver high‑quality, timely advice on a wide range of legal issues. Technical proficiency, agility, adaptability, and strong communication are essential. You will operate autonomously in a collaborative, supportive environment, sharing knowledge with others to address some of MBIE's most complex legal matters.

Skills and Experience Required\n- \n
- A tertiary qualification in law and a practising certificate \n
- Over 5 years' PQE \n
- Experience in public law and an understanding of government mechanisms \n
- Strong legal technical skills \n
- Well‑developed written and verbal communication abilities, suitable for diverse audiences \n
- The ability to deliver successful outcomes in a demanding environment \n
- Strong relationship‑management skills and the ability to work well with others \n
- Enthusiasm, drive, and a proactive nature \n
- Experience working with one or more of MBIE's 17 regulatory systems \n
- Experience in governance, integrity and conduct matters and/or regulatory compliance and enforcement \n
