Job Description

We build reputational capital for brands of the built environment. For nearly two decades, Folio has defined the narratives, proof points and communication assets that build trust and authority for architecture, product design and construction businesses, turning technical expertise into the stories that build B2B reputation and growth. The role This is for a senior writer with AEC expertise: part comms writer, part senior project manager. You will become the primary point of contact and creative lead for a portfolio of retained clients responsible for both the strategic integrity of their communications and the smooth running of the studio work behind it. You’ll build and deliver integrated marketing communications plans for each client, then lead the strategy and creative execution across every channel that plan touches: website, social, newsletters, AEO/SEO, third-party media and YouTube. You'll be comfortable with Monday software or similar, Slack, marcomms software. You will work closely with Andrea, who remains Folio’s editorial director and final voice on strategic and creative quality, while you own the relationship, the delivery and the results. What you’ll own Act as lead strategist and day-to-day relationship owner for retained clients, working from Folio’s Ponsonby studio. Flexible days and times. Build integrated marketing communications plans for each client grounded in their culture, values and the value they create for their own customers. Run quarterly planning sessions, set editorial and campaign priorities, and report on outcomes with the confidence to advise, not just deliver. Strategy and creative implementation Translate positioning and messaging into channel strategy across website, social media, newsletters/EDM, third-party media placements, AEO/SEO and YouTube. Write and shape brand story, case studies, articles, web copy, brochures, campaigns and founder or leadership content to Folio’s editorial standard. Have a keen eye for style and proofreading, authenticity and integrity. No brochure-style copy. Bring an innovative, insight-led approach to each channel, you know why a story belongs on YouTube versus a newsletter, and you write for how each audience actually reads. Stay ahead of how AEO and search behaviour are changing how B2B and technical audiences discover and trust a brand, and build that thinking into client plans. Know how to brief photographers / videographers. Be able to capture on-site iPhone video yourself and send to video editor. Studio and project management Take over the operational running of the studio’s retained accounts: scheduling, briefing, review cycles, version control and deadlines. Manage workflow across designers and specialist collaborators, protecting quality and pace. Keep client work moving with the confident, organised rigour Folio is known for. Storytelling and insight Find the story inside the technical detail (the proof point, the third-party quote, the human thread) that makes a case study genuinely compelling. Bring fresh, well-researched thinking to every client conversation; push back and challenge client thinking where it strengthens the work. What you’ll bring Senior communications and content marketing experience, with B2B and/or technical or industrial clients (architecture, engineering or construction experience is required). Proven storytelling and writing craft: able to write and edit to a high editorial standard across long-form and short-form formats. Working strategic knowledge across website, social, EDM/newsletter, SEO/AEO, third-party media and YouTube and what good looks like in each, and how they work together. Strong project and client management instincts: organised, deadline-driven, and comfortable owning multiple accounts at once. An innovative, insight-led mindset: curious about your clients’ businesses and markets, not just their brief. Our process Folio’s methodology is a four-part framework, grounded in research and editorial craft: Research (map the market and competitive landscape), Positioning (capture culture, purpose and strategic messaging), Activation (plan and produce the assets that bring positioning to life) and Authority (maintain and build presence over time). This role sits across all four: you’ll use the framework to plan client work and to judge whether what you’re producing is actually earning its client trust and authority. Applications Please send a CV, cover letter (explaining your fit for the role), plus 10 examples of published text across web, brochures, eDM, socials and print from your AEC sector experience. Your application will include the following questions: Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in New Zealand? How many years' experience do you have as a Marketing Communications Manager? Are you experienced with copy writing and content creation? How many years' experience do you have in a client services / account management role? #J-18808-Ljbffr
