Data Analyst - Prevention Development

Data Analyst: Prevention Development Location: New Zealand Police National Headquarters, Wellington. Permanent, Full Time. Nationally Advertised Vacancy. About the role As Data Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the creation, implementation, and assessment of national harm reduction and prevention strategies, with a particular focus on analysis of prevention initiatives. You will ensure the accuracy of data collection, collation and coding for analysis and reporting that enables planning and supports informed decision making. You will work collaboratively and seamlessly with others in multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, high quality and innovative work. Key Accountabilities Collate, clean and code large data sets to create regular reports and dashboards that are appropriate to the needs of different audience(s). Analyse and summarise qualitative (use of NVIVO desirable) and quantitative data using internal police systems such as NIA (National Intelligence Application) and Business Objects. Use statistical packages (R, Excel, PowerBI) to automate processes looking at data patterns. Develop skills in problem‑solving (understanding of the SARA problem solving model desirable) to harm prevention, and ‘Crime Prevention through Environmental Design' (CPTED). What you’ll bring Experience in data collection, collation, cleaning and coding of large data sets. Experience in the use and application of data management and analysis tools (R, Excel, PowerBI and NVIVO). Experience in the use and application of Police systems, databases and tools (National Intelligence Application, Business Objects – desirable). Effective communication skills – with the public over phone and email to clarify and gather information and/or feedback. Clear and concise report writing.
