About Te Omanga Hospice Te Omanga Hospice is a charitable trust that provides specialist palliative care to patients and their whānau in the Hutt Valley living with a life‑limiting or terminal illness. Job Title Physiotherapist – Permanent part‑time position, 20 to 24 hours per week Key Responsibilities The primary purpose of this position is to provide a specialist palliative care physiotherapy service to Te Omanga Hospice patients. This includes delivering quality interventions for inpatients and outpatients, assessing and advising on patients’ activities of daily living and supplying assistive equipment as required. The role also involves managing pain, fatigue, neurological issues, and general deconditioning, providing practical advice for family carers, contributing to service development activities, education and quality initiatives, and actively participating as a member of the multidisciplinary team. Skills and Experience Professional Requirements Must Have NZ Registration as a Physiotherapist and a Current Practising Certificate Current full New Zealand Driver’s License Minimum of 3 years post‑graduate practice, including assessment and service provision within acute inpatient and community settings, and an awareness of the physiotherapy role in palliative care Desirable Physiotherapy experience in palliative care Palliative care rehabilitation Manual handling training experience Additional Opportunity There is an optional community palliative care education and compassionate community development component (20 hours) attached to this physiotherapy role.
