Job Description
Overview We are looking for a talented and passionate Payroll Advisor to join a fun, collaborative, close‑knit team where you learn and grow together. Job type: Full Time, Fixed Term role covering parental leave for 8 months. Location: Te Tari Matua, Pōneke – National Office, Wellington. Role Description This role ensures timely processing of payroll for the Ministry and requires a professional who can hit the ground running with strong payroll expertise. Reporting Reporting to the Team Leader, Payroll, the Payroll Advisor will work as part of a small team to provide high‑quality payroll advice and support to Te Puni Kōkiri. Key Responsibilities Process payroll accurately and on time using Pay Global and other payroll software. Provide payroll advice and support to internal stakeholders, including recruitment, HR and finance teams. Build and maintain meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure information flows through the organization at the right time and in compliance with payroll legislation. Qualifications Good understanding of payroll legislation and its application. Strong Excel skills and experience with Pay Global is advantageous. High level of attention to detail, numerical, logical reasoning and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and relationship‑management skills. Trustworthiness, discretion and ability to work in a te ao Māori environment where tikanga is observed. Compensation The salary range for this role is $76,785 – $85,316 based on skills and experience. The full grade is $76,785 – $102,379 with a mid‑point of $85,316; salary will be pro‑rated for the fixed‑term period. Benefits Allowance for childcare, optical care and te reo Māori proficiency.
