Advisor Personnel Security

About the Role - Tēnei tūranga Join MBIE’s Protective Security function as an Advisor Personnel Security , where you will help strengthen our personnel security capability and support a resilient workforce. You will contribute to maturing MBIE’s personnel security practices in line with the Government’s Protective Security Requirements (PSR), supporting a risk‑based approach to assessing, managing and monitoring personnel security risks across the personnel security lifecycle. You will support the effective delivery of personnel security across the Ministry by providing practical advice to managers and staff on security requirements, risk mitigation strategies, and coordinating personnel security processes, managing stakeholder communications, assisting with risk and incident management, and contributing to reporting and trend analysis to support decision making. Seeking We’re keen to hear from people at the start of their career, including recent graduates, who are interested in working at the intersection of people, behaviour, and risk. Previous experience in personnel security is not essential; we’re more interested in your attitude, sound judgement, willingness to learn, and ability to navigate sensitive and complex people matters. Skills and Experience Required - Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana Awareness of personnel security in an organisational or people‑risk context A mature, discreet and professional approach, with the ability to handle sensitive information in a calm and considered way Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a range of audiences Good analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify risks and propose practical solutions Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities A collaborative, respectful approach and the ability to build effective working relationships A proactive mindset, curiosity, and a willingness to learn and grow Essential requirements The legal right to live and work in NZ The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret national security clearance. Employment requires the candidate to be: A New Zealand citizen or resident who has resided continuously in this country for 10 years A citizen of Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom or the United States of America, and have resided continuously in one or more of these countries for the last 10 years Compensation $75,114 – $88,266 + KiwiSaver + wellness benefits.
