Overview Māori Student Coordinator – Te Rau Tauawhi, Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor Māori – Otehā Campus, Albany. Fixed term, full-time, 12 months (1 FTE – 37.5 hrs per week). Te Rau Tauawhi is Massey University's Māori Student Support Centre, providing pastoral, academic and cultural support to Māori students across campuses and distance. About the role We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Māori Student Coordinator to join our team at the Ōtehā Campus, Auckland. This fixed‑term, full‑time position is for 12 months. Key responsibilities Provide early engagement and ongoing support to Māori students and their whānau. Coordinate academic and pastoral support programmes and interventions. Support students to navigate university systems, student services and external support agencies. Build strong relationships with academic staff, central services, student associations and community stakeholders. Plan and coordinate events, workshops and kaupapa Māori initiatives that foster belonging, engagement and success. Monitor student engagement and support targeted interventions for at‑risk students. Contribute to the continuous improvement of Māori student success initiatives and support services. Maintain accurate records and report on student engagement and support outcomes. About you Strong commitment to Māori development, success and wellbeing. Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ability to apply its principles in a tertiary education environment. Understanding of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori, or a commitment to further developing these capabilities. Experience in student support, learning support, pastoral care, education or a related field. Strong relationship building skills and ability to work collaboratively across diverse stakeholder groups. Excellent communication, coordination and organisational skills. An undergraduate qualification and experience within a tertiary education environment would be highly advantageous. Salary Salary band: $71,274 – $101,329 remuneration based on skills and experience.
