Food Safety Quality Technician – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract Located at the Awatoto manufacturing site. Responsibilities Provide day‑to‑day technical and quality support to operations. Ensure daily quality control measures are achieved and conduct product checks to ensure compliance with specifications. Verify the accuracy and integrity of production records, documentation, and quality data. Investigate product and process non‑conformances, proactively identify issues, monitor GMP compliance, and support a strong food safety and quality culture on the production floor. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality systems, operational processes, and site performance while supporting cross‑functional and innovation projects. Lead internal audits, site verification activities, and administration of the Risk Management Programme (RMP). Support external audits, liaise with MPI, and ensure compliance with HACCP, SQF, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. Support validation and verification of manufacturing processes and critical control points. Assist with customer complaint investigations and implementation of complaint reduction initiatives. Coordinate calibration of quality equipment and maintain associated records. Promote compliance with Health & Safety, environmental, food safety, and quality standards. Participate in Leadership reviews and support the ongoing effectiveness of the Food Safety & Quality Management System. Develop, deliver and coach food safety, GMP and quality training to the operational and warehouse teams. Manage and maintain the site's HACCP and prerequisite programmes. Qualifications Experience in a Food Safety, Quality Assurance, or Quality Control role within the food, pet food or FMCG manufacturing industry. Sound understanding of HACCP, Risk Management Programmes (RMP) and food safety systems. Practical problem‑solving skills with strong technical knowledge, exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation. Confident communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships while working collaboratively to achieve the best outcomes. Ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, organised and detail‑oriented. New Zealand residency or a valid New Zealand work visa.
