About the Role Dermatopathology specialist certification. Permanent, full‑time position based at the MtWellington Community Anatomical Pathology unit. The role seeks an Anatomic Pathologist interested in achieving specialist dermatopathology certification—either a Qualified Fellow in the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) to gain RCPA Dermatopathology certification, or an otherwise qualified anatomical pathologist seeking the European‑administered dermpath exam. This is an excellent opportunity to work with NewZealand’s largest and highly specialised community‑based laboratory service. The service processes the largest single‑site volume of dermatopathology cases in the country and employs four full‑time dermatopathologists plus one visiting specialist to support training. The anticipated certification programme lasts two years: broad general and dermatopathology duties in year1, followed by full‑time dermatopathology work in year2 leading up to the college or European exam. The position is permanent, with an expected workload of 40–45 hours per week. Hours will be negotiated with the Clinical Lead during the interview stage, and there is a requirement for rostered shifts and some on‑call availability. About the Team / Service / Location The Anatomic Pathology Service (APS) at MtWellington provides services to approximately 4,000 private specialists, private surgical hospitals, and general practitioners. APS receives about 500 histology specimens per day, plus an additional 15–20 non‑gynaecological cytology samples. Over 50% of the cases are skin specimens. Other specimens include gastroenterological, gynaecological, breast, head and neck, respiratory, and urological pathology. This role does not involve gynaecological cytology or autopsies. About You You are a trained Anatomical Pathologist and either possess or are eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of NewZealand.
