As the Senior Accountant, you'll partner with leaders across the organisation, drive strong financial performance, and support informed decision-making. As our Senior Accountant, you will provide the financial leadership, analysis, and insights that help ensure resources are managed effectively and sustainably. You will: Lead Financial Reporting Excellence: Deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting for senior leadership, the Board and external stakeholders. Partner with the Business: Act as a trusted advisor to portfolio leaders, providing financial guidance that supports effective planning and decision-making. Drive Budgeting and Forecasting: Coordinate annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning processes across the organisation. Provide Strategic Financial Insight: Analyse trends, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend practical solutions that support organisational performance. Strengthen Financial Capability: Mentor and provide technical guidance to finance team members while building financial understanding across the organisation. Ensure Compliance and Good Governance: Support sound financial management practices, audit processes, policy development, and compliance obligations. Champion Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline systems, improve reporting, and enhance financial processes. Your expertise will help ensure Save the Children NZ remains financially resilient, accountable, and well-positioned to deliver positive outcomes for children now and into the future. What you bring: Chartered Accountant (CAANZ or equivalent) qualification. At least five years of relevant accounting experience, including post-qualification experience. Strong financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting expertise. Experience preparing management reports and presenting complex financial information clearly and confidently. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a commercial mindset. Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence and build trusted relationships. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. A collaborative, solutions-focused approach with a passion for continuous improvement. Commitment to Save the Children's mission, values, and safeguarding standards. Experience working within the not-for-profit, charitable, or international development sector. Exposure to grant funding, project accounting, or donor-funded programmes. Experience supporting governance reporting, audit management, and regulatory compliance. Experience mentoring or coaching finance team members.
