About the Role Defence Commercial Services delivers professional commercial and procurement expertise to the NewZealand Defence Force (NZDF), supporting end‑to‑end operational objectives by ensuring compliance with procurement and contract management policies. This position focuses on delivering procurement outcomes across the full lifecycle, minimising risk and maximising public value, while aligning with NZDF’s strategic priorities and the NZ Government Procurement Rules. Responsibilities Deliver procurement outcomes for complex and engaging projects, supporting the full procurement lifecycle. Minimise risk and maximise public value, ensuring alignment with NZDF strategic objectives and procurement rules. Support stakeholders across the Capability and Logistics portfolio, influencing outcomes in Maritime, Land, Air, Supply Chain, Equipment Management and Shared Services. Partner with diverse stakeholders to deliver commercial and procurement solutions that enable capability acquisition, sustainment and operational effectiveness. Work closely with customers to ensure outcomes align with organisational priorities and support critical defence capabilities. Qualifications and Experience Proven track record in the delivery of procurement and commercial outcomes, with strong commercial acumen. Outstanding team player capable of building effective relationships with customers and key stakeholders. Sound understanding and demonstrable experience of the end‑to‑end procurement lifecycle, including application of the NZ Government Procurement Rules and best practice across direct and indirect categories. Experience supporting procurement and commercial activities within a Capability and Logistics environment highly advantageous. Previous public sector experience desirable but not essential. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a customer‑centric focus. Agile, innovative and solutions‑focused, able to navigate complex challenges. Strong personal integrity, sound judgement and a commitment to NZDF values. Resilient under pressure, able to remain calm in challenging situations and demonstrate empathy and professionalism. Eligibility To qualify for the required government security clearance with the NZDF, applicants must be a NewZealand citizen, hold NewZealand Permanent Residence or a current NewZealand Residency Class Visa.
